My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It took me forever to read this book. Not because it was terrible, quite the opposite. I’ve started to read this several times, then would read something else and lose my place. This book made me think too much of past romantic partners, and that was a bit disturbing to me.
It really made me think about my previous romantic encounters, not in the sense that they were violent, but they had mildly abusive tendencies. Abuse is a word that has changed in definition since I read this book. Abuse has a wide range of symptoms, not just physical and verbal abuse. Manipulation can also be viewed as abuse, which is not something I ever considered.
Everyone needs to read this book. Not just women. Everyone. There is something to be learned here and if abuse is to be stopped everyone needs to recognize it for what it is and to be able to do something about it.
